90年代後半以降、オランダより世界中に広がった新たなDance Music、取り分けハードより端を発したテックシーンにおいては、そのパイオニアとも言うべき存在。現在ではレコード会社のみならず、TVやRadio局の運営、数万人規模のイベントプロモーターとして急成長を遂げたオランダのDance Media "ID &T"の全盛期をRank 1やMarco Vらと共に看板アーティスト一人として支えた実績を持つ。ハードからテック?エレクトロに至るまで、スタイルは違えど完全フロア仕様のプロダクションとインパクトの強いフレーズを両立させたMarcelは"Cherry Blossom"、"Lemon Tree"、"On Fire"など数多くのヒット作をリリース。特にTrance Energy 2006のテーマソングにも選ばれた彼の代表曲"Advanced"は、発表から現在に至るまでArminやTiestoをはじめとする世界のTOP DJ達によって幾度となくスピンされ続けており、Trance Anthemとしてシーンにその名を刻んでいる。2007年からは現在の主なリリースレーベルとなっているHigh Contrastでの活動と並行し、実力派のアーティストをピックアップする為のTech TranceとTech Houseのレーベル"Musical Madness"を設立。ヨーロッパのテックシーンでは既に巨匠として多くのDJ達に崇められているMarcel自らが世界中の次代の才能を発掘し、2008年秋に作りあげた同名のMix CD "Musical Madness"は現在も好セールスを記録している。
また、DJとしてはDance Valley、Gatecrasher、Mystery Landなど世界中のBig PartyやFestivalを飛び回るなど地球規模のDJスケジュールを展開しており、特にWhiteとBlackという正反対のテーマとドレスコードを設けながらも世界で最も大きな成功を収めているヨーロッパ発のスタジアムパーティー"Sensation"では、史上唯一の両パーティー出演を果たしたDJとしてその象徴となっている。更に毎年3万人を動員し、トップDJのみが出演を許される世界最大級のDance Musicの祭典"Trance Energy"には2006年から現在まで毎年ヘッドライナーとして出演し続けており、2008年には同パーティーのオフィシャルMix CDも手掛けた。今回のLandscapeにはArminやPaul van Dykと並び、今年もメインアクトとして出演する"Trance Energy 2009"が開催された直後のアジアツアーとして待望の初来日を果たす。

It's hard to pin down Marcel's mind-blowing mix of raw and energetic dance music. Dance floors and festivals have fallen before him in swift succession. Global Gathering, Mysteryland, Dance Valley, Trance Energy, Gatecrasher, Summer Sound System, Escape Into The Park and Sanctuary just in one summer run! And possibly more than anything else underlining Marcel's diverse nature, 2008 saw him become the only DJ ever to play the White AND Black edition Sensation parties in the Netherlands.
In the studio, he's been responsible for some of the biggest productions of the last two years, including the official Trance Energy 2006 anthem 'Advanced', the Pete Tong Essential Tune 'Monotone' and the smash hit 'Lemon Tree'. Support has flooded in from all the major players. Ti?sto, Marco V, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell, Sander van Doorn are just a selection of the big hitters using Marcel's material to devastate the dance floor. His legendary 2006 'High Contrast Presents...' double mix album included one CD dedicated entirely to his own productions. This year saw him compile and mix the prestigious official Trance Energy album to support the festival.
