Mike Parkerはかの有名なMoogSynthesizer社が一時期オフィスを構えたニューヨーク州バッファローに住んでいる。現在彼はSUNYBuffaloという大学で芸術を教えているが、ビジュアルアートを学ぶ事は彼自身のプロデュースする音楽に大きな影響を与えてきたようだ。「形式に捕われないテクノの特性は僕にとって魅力的なモノ。絵を描くのと同じ様に、エレクトロニックミュージックを創るのには即興的な部分があり、同じ音が出ることは二度とない。僕の持っているアナログシンセサイザーにはパッチメモリーなどの昨日がついていないので、僕の創る音楽はいつも一からの作業で、この創造という作業は僕の仕事にも似ている。レコーディングも常にとてもシンプルな作業：何度も何度も曲のリハーサルをし、ライブで一発でレコーディングをする。編集もダビングも行わないよ。この手法が僕にとってとても大切なんだ。なぜならとても即興性があり、そこに自分の独自性があるから。」彼のGephoneレーベルにはあのDonato Dozzy、Peter Van Hoesen、Marcel Dettmannなど多数の有名DJのファンがいる。また、彼のLabyrinth2008でのセットはフェスティバル一のセットとも言われている。

Mike Parker lives and work in Buffalo, New York, the city that was once the home of the Moog Synthesizer company. He currently lectures Fine Art at SUNY Buffalo. Over the years, his education in the visual arts has had a profound impact on the music he produces. Mike says ''the abstract nature of techno appeals to me because like painting and drawing, the creation of electronic music via modular synthesis is based on improvisation, never the same way twice. None of the analog synthesizers in my studio contain patch memory capabilities. Hence, every time I write, I must create new sounds from scratch. This creative process parallels my works on paper which are derived from the human form and drawn entirely from life. My method of recording and arranging is straightforward: a track is rehearsed many times, then recorded live with no edits or overdubbing later. This methodology is important to me because it is spontaneous''. Fans of his label Geophone, going since 1997, include Donato Dozzy, Peter Van Hoesen & Marcel Dettmann. His set at Labyrinth 2008 was widely regarded as one of the best of the festival.
