独特な世界観でフロアーを爆発させる彼のDJセットはダンスミュージックマニアの期待に応えてくれるにちがいない。
テクノのメッカ、デトロイトでキャリアをスタートし90年代に多くのレジデンスを獲得した。それ以降NYのバンガー,ベルリンでもDJスキルだけでレジデンスを獲得した。
Spectral Sound labelで強力なMIX CD をリリースし、評論家の指名でRAにもゲスト出演した。2010年にはPERC TRAX レーベルから作品をリリース。今後も彼の活躍に注目したい。
Some people filter through the record bins, taking what are on the wall or record store employee suggestions. Then there are people who dig deeper into the dusty crates, and absorb music like a sponge; ignoring labels, bucking trends and are forever on a quest to find the perfect record. The ones that make the staunchest of chin stroking, note taking trainspotters lose their shit on the dancefloor, hanging on every record from one to the next.
Derek Plaslaiko is a consummate example, a DJ too humble to trumpet his obvious talents, yet one too obviously talented to credibly remain humble.
Starting his career in the home of techno, Detroit, earning numerous residencies in the 90s locally and then later at NYC’s The BUNKER and Berlin purely on his skills on the decks and track selection, Derek is as raw a DJ talent as it gets.
A strong mix CD on the Spectral Sound label, guest appearances on RA as a critic’s choice, and in 2010, with a first release on the PERC TRAX imprint under his belt, Derek Plaslaiko is a talent to look out for in 2011 and beyond. Expect nothing less than a comprehensive ass whopping during is set for the first edition of LIVE and RAW.
