Kirkはグルーヴ、ハウス、テクノに関して博士のような知識の持ち主。初めてイギリスからデトロイトに足を運び、レコードショップをあさっていた人たち の一人であり、ダンスミュージックシーンがまだ未熟な時から彼はDJたちに素晴らしい音楽を提供していたKirk。瞬く間に一流プロデューサーにまで登り つめ、自身のARTレーベルからはThe Black Dog, Aphex Twin, Carl Craig（KirkのNairobiをリミックス）までもがリリースするようになった。またKirk自身もNew Religion、Rush Hour、Planet E、R&SやMo Waxなどのレーベルからリリースもし、デトロイトの影響を受けたイギリスのアーティストたちへ注目が集まるように活躍した。そのデトロイトは恩返しをす るかのように昨年のMovement 2010 フェスティバルにKirkを招待した。
その独特なスタイルは多種のジャンルの音楽をとりいれており、彼によって開発されたDJ用のテクノロジーも多数あり、デジタルDJの先駆者であるKirk はデジタルDJのアンバサダーのような存在。Ableton Liveを初めてDJセットにとりいれたプロのDJであり、常に新しいモノをとりいれるように努めている。その先進的なスタイルとパフォーマンスは彼の事 を常に注目の的にし、その一例が最新のプロジェクトであるBen Simsとのコラボレーションで実施するMachineイベントやARTレーベルでのIan O'Brienとのコラボレーションが記憶に新しい。世界中のどの都市にでも彼のファンは必ずいるはず。Nairobiリリースより10年も経った今もな お、Kirk Degiorgioはシーンの最先端をリードしています。
To start Kirk was the absolute guru of rare groove, house and techno. He was the one who sourced the great tracks for DJs when the whole scene was no more than a blip on the radar. Kirk travelled from Britain to become one of the first explorers into the deepest, darkest jungles of Detroit record shops. Within a heartbeat he elevated as a producer of excellence with his famed ART label releasing the likes of The Black Dog, Aphex Twin, even Carl Craig who remixed his classic Nairobi track. Kirk himself has released on such legendary labels as New Religion, Rush Hour, Planet E, R&S and Mo Wax & he was a fundamental influence in bringing wider attention to a core of UK artists working in a Detroit-originator inspired vein. Detroit paid back the favour last year inviting him to their Movement 2010 festival.
His versatility is a much lauded, swinging through the genres with ease and Kirk pioneered much of today's DJ technology; being a digital DJ before anyone else has made Kirk an ambassador of the form. he was the first professional DJ to use Ableton Live for his DJ sets. He revels in the new and is critically acknowledged for his past triumphs. His is a style of highly customised and advanced performances, dropping him into the very centre of acclaim, such as for his new Machine event project with Ben Sims or his recent collaboration with Ian O'Brien on A.R.T.
