2010年、Girl UnitはBok BokとL-Vis 1990によるレーベル [Night Slugs] からのEP「I.R.L」によってUKベースミュージックシーンに登場した。このEPには表題曲「I.R.L.」のようなグライムから「Temple Keys」のようなストレートなハウスクラシックまで幅広く収録され、French FriesやScratcha DVAのリミックスによって更なる評価を得た。「I.R.L.」のリリースから程なくしてのGirl Unitの新曲「WUT」は数カ月の間、Rinse FMでのショーというショー全てでプレイされ、またYou Tubeでは500,000回に届く勢いのビューワー数を獲得し伝説と化している。2010年後半には、サウスのダーティーなラップミュージックを含む3曲を収録した「the WUT EP」をリリース。今年の初めには [Night Slugs] からKingdomとのスプリット盤を、また [Dirty Bird] を運営するClaude VonStrokeリミックスによる「the WUT remix EP」をリリースする他、[Lucky Me] や [Hemlock] などの重要レーベルから、そして [Rinse Recodings] からリリースされ大ヒットを記録したKaty B feat. Ms Dynamite「Lights On」など数々のリミックスオファーを受けている。
2011年にはGirl Unitはアメリカ、ヨーロッパのツアーに多忙を極め、またRinse FMにおいてのDJ、そして [Night Slugs] からのEP、[Numbers] からのリミックス作品のリリースが控えるなど、精力的に活動を続けている。
Girl Unit has been a member of the Night Slugs crew since day one, and instantly gained world wide recognition with his first release 'I.R.L.' which contained elements of juke and grime, and 'Temple Keys' which became a bonified house classic.
Shortly after his first release on Night Slugs, every DJ from Mary Anne Hobbs to Oneman started rinsing his track 'WUT' and it gained something of a cult status before it was even released. When it was finally released in 2010, the EP came complete with two other tracks which could be described as an epic mix of recent dirty south hip-hop and UK bass, with elements of dubstep and futuristic R'n'B.
As a DJ Girl Unit likes to mix it up with genres ranging from Chicago house and R'n'B from the late 80s and 90s, all the way to UK garage and grime dubplates from his peers in South London.
