ロンドン出身のDJ/アーティスト/レーベルオーナー、 KLUTE aka Tom Withers。
イギリスのパンク・バンド THE STUPIDS のメンバーとして活動していた Tom は、ハードコア・テクノシーンの洗礼を受け、90年代前半からエクスペリメンタルなブレイクビーツのトラック制作を始める。その後、KLUTE名義としてCertificate 18 などのアンダーグラウンドレーベルから楽曲をリリース。
2001年には、ヘッズにお馴染みのレーベル Commercial Suicide を始動し、これまでに Amit、Break、Digital、SKC、Chris SU、Concord Dawn、IllSkillz など世界各地のアーティスト達の作品を世に送り出している。ディープ、ハード、ローラー、ダブ、テクノなど、スタイルに縛られない Commercial Suicide のオリジナルスタイルは、DJから絶大な支持を得ている。
自身のプロダクションでは Commercial Suicide をはじめ、これまでに Metalheadz、31 Records、Soul:R、Hospital などの名門レーベルからリリース。
彼のルーツであるパンク、テクノを絶妙に融合し、そのメロディックでローリングなサウンドは、ドラムンベースに新しい風を吹き込んでいる。
2010年には6枚目となる自身のフルアルバム「Music for prophet」をリリース。ディープなバイブのローリングビートからダブステップまで、KLUTE
の多彩な音楽性を反映させた収録トラックは、世界中のリスナーの心を掴んだ。
そして2011年には、Commercial Suicide が記念すべき10周年を迎え、Nymfo、Mindscape、Amit、Dom & Roland などからのリリースが予定。
今後ますます目が離せない要注目レーベルへと進化し続けている。

A rebel with a cause, Klute is a truly unique artist and continues to be creative force in drum & bass after over a decade in the scene. His productions mix strong melodies with tough beats, bearing the influence of Klute’s roots in punk and techno, and his livewire DJ sets are known for their energy and intensity. His sixth full-length artist "Music for prophet" was released in 2010, demonstrating once again his diversity and broad appeal with a worldwide tour taking him everywhere from Mexico to Mumbai. In 2011, Klute has returned to focus on his label Commercial Suicide and celebrate it's 10th anniversary with releases from the likes of Nymfo, Mindscape, Amit, Dom & Roland, as well as a new solo Klute single, and more to come.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, the musical career of Tom Withers began way before the sounds of drum and bass or even hardcore had first emerged. As Tommy Stupid he fronted skate punk outfit The Stupids and took the band on tours of Europe, the USA and Australia during the late 1980s before venturing into electronic music and starting his own solo career. From acid house and techno he made a natural progression into rave and then hardcore before playing his first gigs as a drum and bass DJ around 1996. Throughout his career, he’s always been happy to let his rebel roots show and has never been afraid to buck the trend. His ability to combine a multitude of influences in his music, from techno to thrash to dub, with punk attitude is Klute’s trademark.
