今回初来日のFriendlyは実名Andrew Kornweibelというオーストラリア出身のプロデューサー兼DJ。現在東ロンドンのブレイクスシーンに影響を与えている存在である。近日の彼のセットはブレイクスというジャンルの枠に留まらずブレイクス、エレクトロハウス、ブートレッグなどを太いベースラインと合わせ、とにかくダーティで新鮮なミックスを作り出している。現在 FriendlyはロンドンのEndというクラブのパーティ"Chew the Fat Nights"のレジデントを務め、日々アメリカ、中国、日本、オーストラリア、更にヨーロッパ各地など世界中で活躍している。近年はFat! Recordsや自身のレーベルなどからもアルバムをリリースし、Milkeという名でバンド活動も行い、幅広い音楽活動を行っている。
Friendly is Andrew Kornweibel, a breaks producer and DJ originally from Australia, now holding down the breaks scene in East London. In reality, if you have witnessed a Friendly set of late, its hard to class Friendly as purely breaks. His mission statement is simply dirty and he mixes it up between breaks, electro house, bootlegs and oddities to create a bass heavy sweat fest. Friendly works very closely with Fat! Records and Fat head Paul Arnold. Hes a resident at Chew the Fat nights, with main room residency at the End nightlcub in London, along with nights in Budapest, Brighton, Berlin, Slovenia and Barcelona, and one-off events around Europe.
