1970年代後半、伝説のパンク／インダストリアル・バンドKILLING JOKEのファーストアルバムを発表。以降、時代と共にパンク／ヒップホップ／インダストリアルなど、スタイルを変えて常にシーンを切り拓く音楽を世に送り出してきた、ミュージック・シーンを代表するアーティスト。
80年代半ばからThe Orbのオリジナルメンバーとして活動し、本格的にダンスミュージックに関わっていく。90年代に入り、サイケデリック・トランス・ムーブメントに強く影響されたユースは、世界初のサイケデリック・トランスレーベルDRAGONFLYを始動、テクノ／サイケデリック・トランスのパーティーシーンを切り拓き、現在もそのパイオニアとして精力的に音楽活動を行っている。
PAUL McCARTNEYとのユニットFIREMANから最新アルバム『ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS』をリリース、THE VERVE，THE STRING CHEESE INCIDENT，PRIMAL SCREAMなど数多くのトップアーティストを手がける。今や世界のミュージックシーンを語る上で欠かせない最重要アーティストの一人となっている。
そしてWAKYO RECORDSよりプロデュース＆コンパイルアルバム『SUICIDE』をリリースし、FUJI ROCK'05出演し、その名を国内外に轟かせる。さらにYOUTH名義としては、初となるフルアルバム『CALIBRATE YOUR INTUITION』をリリースするなど、その精力的な活動は留まるところを知らない。
The first album by the legendary punk/industrial band “KILLING JOKE” was released in the ‘70s. Ever since, YOUTH has absorbed styles from punk/hip hop/industrial, opening eras to a new concept of musical experience and representing the underground music scene of each deacade.
In the mid ‘80s he starts to record as the core member of The Orb, pursuing new possibilities of dance music. In the ‘90s he engages himself into the rising of the Psychedelic Trance movement and launches his self label “DRAGONFLY”. As the pioneer of the radical techno/Psychedelic scenes, he still stands at the edge of time.
YOUTH has been noticed by the likes of Paul McCartney, String Cheese Incident and THE VERVE as a producer and has become an icon that can’t be left out of the musical history of our world.
Last year YOUTH has released the “production&compilation” album “SUICIDE” from WAKYO RECORDS, performing at the Fujirock Festival in Japan, gaining worldwide praise for his art. And his first album as YOUTH “CALIBRATE YOUR INTUITION” was released. In ’06 he produced “Riot City Blues” for PRIMAL SCREAM, in ’08 with Paul McCartney they form “THE FIREMAN” and released the track “Electric Argument”. His actions and creation is continual.
