DJ Lead was introduced to Hip-Hop ?in 1993 by his cousin, who was a DJ, in?and started his career as a DJ in his hometown, Kyoto in 1998.? In a short time, he became a distinguished DJ in the area. From then till now, he has visited New York frequently and made connection with various artists. His experience in New York, the city that gave birth to Hip-Hop, allowed him to absorb NY’s distinctive vibe that polishes his skill as a DJ. In 2004, he joined DJ Envy’s Japan Tour, which was held in various major cities, as an opening DJ. He was recognized for his talent in the tour, and, as a result, he made an appearance in HOT97, Hip-Hop’s most prestigious station.
In recent years, he was invited as a guest DJ to 2-days opening reception parties for Baby 18, one of Taiwan’s major clubs, and rocked the crowd of 3000 people. Also, he played at Element, Manor, Room Service, Abyss, and other big clubs as a guest DJ. Moreover, he appeared at Birthday Bashes for DJ Enuff, DJ Envy, and DJ Self. Other than playing in clubs, he released mix CDs with DJ Self in 2008 and DJ Enuff in 2009. With the releases of the CDs, he had successful tours throughout major cities in Japan.Along with his vigorous efforts, he has been a member of R-Rated Records, which is one of the quality Hip-Hop label in Japan, since its establishment. As a core member of R-Rated Records, which was launched in Kyoto, he made great effort in vitalizing the city’s Hip-Hop scene. Meanwhile, he has played in many cities throughout Japan. He is recognized as one of those DJs at the top of the game.
Other his activities in clubs, he became the only Japanese DJ to host a program on Alist Radio, which is worldwide Internet radio started in 2009. In July 2009, he will be officially inducted into the Heavy Hitters. DJ Lead’s encounter with DJ Enuff and other forerunners became significant turning points as they gave him opportunities to grow his consciousness as a DJ and acquire the attitude as a grown man. With his worldwide actions, he continues to embodies his Hip-Hop view in original way and has established himself as scene’s most important person who knows the world and connect Japanese Hip-Hop with New York and other Asian countries directly.
