Quintino is one of the biggest names in the current electro and bigroom house scene. Recently, the Dutch DJ played the Electrox Festival in Makuhari Messe in Chiba, we caught him for a short interview talking about his performance, his love for Japan and his upcoming single 'Winner'.

First of all, how was it to play at the Electrox Festival?
"Such a great experience. I didn't know what to expect, but was welcomed with a full dance floor and lots of people holding signs saying things like 'Quintino Family'. So yeah, that's really special."
What makes this festival so special?
"The energy of the crowd and the people on social media who look forward to this event for such a long time, that's really something that lets the festival stand out above others."
What's your connection with the Japanese (festival) scene?
"Through social media you can see the electronic music scene is really growing in Japan! That's also why you see all the events grow bigger every time and the hunger for new music is growing in the same speed. I'm proud to be a part of that movement."
What do like the most about Japan?
"I was really impressed with the country being so well organised and disciplined. The people are really friendly and empathic, I really would like to live in Japan."
The new year started really well with your show at Electrox. What were your highlights in 2014?
"Well, there was the release of my single 'Go Hard', which scored over ten million views on YouTube, and my show on EDC was also a highlight. But besides that I'm also very proud of entering the DJ Mag Top 100. It feels like 2014 my career really kicked off, now I'm ready for more."
What do you have planned for this year?
"There's lots of good things coming up. 2015 will be a special year where I'll be taking new steps in my career, playing new festivals and a couple of exciting releases I'm really looking forward to get out there."
What music can we expect, and will you be working with other artists?
"My next release will be 'Winner', coming out on Showtek's label SKINK end of January. After that my single 'Escape' will come out at Spinnin' Records, followed by my remix of 'U &I' by Galantis. This will all come out in the first three months of the year, so lots more will follow the rest of the year!"
Finally, do you have a speciale new years greeting for the people in Japan?
"I would like to thank everyone for the warm welcome in Japan. All the signs and t-shirts with my name on it was really special. It felt like it was one big Quintino family at Electrox. That's actually something I'm quite proud of and I can't wait to go back. Japan has captured my heart."
