Sam Rouanet aka REYNOLD started playing violin and classical guitar at a conservatory at the age of 6. But a few years later he chose the electric guitar and started jamming with his father (who's an excellent jazz musician…)
Despite early exposure to jazz through his dad and growing up with soul music, by the90's Sam developed a keen interest in the independent rock scene (bands like "Fugazi", "No means no" or "Helmet"…).
Even back then experimenting with new sounds was mainly what he was aiming for! Hip hop was also a big step for Sam - especially in terms of production… the need to produce his own music became increasingly more important to him… especially after having met Matt Lux (the bass player from Isotope 217°).
Sam then moved to Chicago and got inspiration from the house and "post rock" scenes (which at the time wasn't even called that way but how else would anyone label Tortoise's music, anyway?)
And so Matt and Sam formed a funk band called A.U.F.M and started playing in the Chicago local scene!
Sam then moved to London and his collaboration there with Kinobee and Scanone led him to concentrating on his own production work. Back in France he met Phil Stumpf and so it was only after a couple of European tours with the band “OH.” that the Canvas / Duplex100 and Minimal Dancin' adventures got started! His solo project - Reynold - also began developing around that time. After signing several 12” on labels such as Morris-Audio citysport, Out of Orbit and Trenton he released a full Cd album on Stewart Walker’s imprint ? Persona. He also started his own label called Trenton records in 2003 which is now becoming one of the most established underground electronic dance music platform in Europe with artists like 3 Channels, Nooncat, Touane, Till von Sein & Aera, Theodor Zox, P.toile and himself as Reynold of course…

Due to the underground rave scene at the time, Alex Einz found inspiration from the sounds of 808 State,Kraftwerk,early Depeche Mode and Aphex Twin, amongst others.

As a DJ and producer , he has been able to fuse together these influences and push his very own take on electronica by constantly pushing the boundaries within a club environment with his deep techno experimental grooves keeping true to his musical orientation.

Moving to Asia and having guest DJ'ed throughout Asia, Europe, and the Middle East for many years he is now heavily involved in the Tokyo club scene with his clubnight "Phonika" which aims to consistently forge the paths of house and techno in Tokyo with a healthy mix of Japanese and international DJs.

As a producer, he has released on multiple labels but in early 2010 decided to concentrate on his record label “Mono Basics” which is a vinyl oriented boutique label focused on Japanese artists.

He is passionate about pushing his sound as not a specific genre, but a blend of many influences from Jazz to Disco, Funk to Techno, Old Skool to Hip Hop, all with an undercurrent of groove that stays true to his moniker.
Using elements from his musical upbringing, he has been able to fuse together these sounds to create sets that are aimed at 'changing the way you listen to the music' irrespective of genre or relevance.

Having DJ'ed around the world in addition to promoting his Phonika event in Tokyo, Groove Patrol has been able to maintain a distinct freshness to his sound with a continued devotion to the underground. In 2010, he now finds himself the co-founder of Audio | Tokyo Electronic Music Festival which aims to bring a brand new festival concept to the worlds largest metropolis. Not content to follow trends or
pigeonhole himself, Ospovat draws on a diverse range of influences such as techno, progressive house, electronica, synthpop and improvisational jam bands to make energetic dance music that is rich in feeling. A desire to create an
experience that is both dynamic and engaging infuses his live performances, which see him playing and controlling synthesizers, a laptop, and a midi-controller in real time, as well as running his own live vocals through guitar effects pedals and playing guitar. His music has been called reminiscent of Henrik Schwarz.

Ospovat has played live extensively since 2003 across America and Japan, including the 2004 Fuji Rock Festival and a 2007 U.S. tour. He is a resident at the popular and long-running Real Grooves club events in Tokyo, where he has
opened for the Wighnomy Brothers, John Tejada, Guillaume and the Coutu Dumonts, Extrawelt, and Los Hermanos. He has shared bills with Pier Bucci, Robag Wruhme, Gerald Mitchell, and Marc Schneider.

2009 saw releases on KSR House and DHP (Deep House Project), and on his label Continental Drift Records, launched with Craig Oldring (c_olvrin) in October 2009. His ‘He’s Not a Machine’ (EP) was released on Continental Drift in
September 2010. He has performed recently at Unit, Aoi Heya, and Eleven (formerly Space Lab Yellow) in Tokyo.

His experience in the club scene that lasts over 20 years has helped him create his very own musical sense, sensitivity to trends and sounds that can compare with well known DJs. Working professionally in various genres of music, as not only an artist but also as a producer, he is the owner of many musical faces.
