DIRTY UNDERBELLY ELECTRO DISCO TECH !!!! "The Subs" were born the day musical wonder child "Papillon" met the highly acclaimed Belgian DJ duo "Starski & Tonic". Both parties being people with totally different skills, but with a common passion and a common goal to make kick ass MUSIC. And yes, from this encounter came the sounds that not only makes people move............ but also truly moves people.
Live, "The Subs" make the dance floor vibrate and heartbeats quicken with their energy, add this to Papillon's craziness behind the microphone and its a sure thing to get any crowd rocking.
When DJ'ing, "The Subs" go way above and beyond the average by drawing from more than 10 years of performance experience.
Following in the footsteps of "2 Many Djs" and "The Glimmer Twins", in 2002 Starski & Tonic" became the third resident-duo of Belgium’s finest eclectic-electro venue: the infamous "Culture Club" in Ghent.Residencies at "Dirty Dancing" in Brussels and "Petrol" in Antwerp soon followed, as well as countless gigs all over Belgium and occasionally abroad (France, Germany, Poland, Holland, England, including London’s Fabric, Holland’s Lowlands, and Belgium’s Pukkelpop and club Piekarnia Warsaw...).
"Papillon" has been making music for as long as he can remember. He's not only a musician, but also a producer and songwriter. Apart from "The Subs", his musical genius also feeds "Foxylane", a dirty RaveRock band with Stefan "Poplife" and "DJ Thang". He recently produced the jazzy debut album of "Lady Linn and her Magnificent Seven".
These releases have drawn international attention. After Pukkelpop, Lowlands, 10 Days off, they played Fabric, Razzmatazz, Eurosonic 2008 and after a notorious passage at Madrid's Club Low they were instantly offered a residency. Let's see how the story continues...
"The Subs" first release was a modest club hit called "You make me spill". Their second, 'Substracktion' was picked up by "Phillipe Zdar". Their third release 'Fuck that shit' was a massive club hit and made the crowd go insane when "Dr Lectroluv" spinned it on Rock Werchter 2007 and "Cozzy Mozzy" on I love Techno that same year. In the meanwhile, they did remixes for "TELEX", "dEUS", "Acid Jacks", "The Lotterboys", "Sharam Jay" and "Mason" which were picked up by artists like "Tiga", "Simian Mobile Disco" etc.. Their last release 'Kiss my Trance' received a lot of airplay and made the Belgian charts. A new maxi called 'Papillon' is in the making which will contain remixes by "Yuksek", "Brodinski" and "Shinichi Osawa".
Latest single releases are 'Music Is The New Religion' (end of Octobre 2008), with a great video (check You Tube) and the international album release 'Subculture' (end of February 2009) + single release
'My Punk' with remixes by 'Jokers Of The Scene' and 'Alex Gopher.
