Alan Abrahams has been in motion his whole life?growing up in South Africa, coming of age in London, decamping to Lisbon, and finally settling in Berlin?and his deeply syncopated brand of electronic dance music has evolved with every step of the journey. As Bodycode, Abrahams harnesses his desire to “unlock the psyche via the body,” layering martial tech-funk with gorgeous wisps of melody, heady e...Alan Abrahams has been in motion his whole life?growing up in South Africa, coming of age in London, decamping to Lisbon, and finally settling in Berlin?and his deeply syncopated brand of electronic dance music has evolved with every step of the journey. As Bodycode, Abrahams harnesses his desire to “unlock the psyche via the body,” layering martial tech-funk with gorgeous wisps of melody, heady effects, and a liberal wash of otherworldly vocal samples. Somewhere between the beats for the body and melody for the soul, Abrahams believes, lies the Bodycode.
While living in London, Abrahams began recording as Portable, an experimental, atmospheric techno project with a strong African-percussion influence. Abrahams founded the Sud Electronic label with his partner Lerato and launched a string of releases on Background and ~scape records. Upon moving to Lisbon, Abrahams conceived of Bodycode, a more dancefloor-centric project that would shift the focus from the Portable’s headier textures to a more body-moving aesthetic. Abrahams
wanted to combine his love of science-fiction with a naturalistic approach towards sound and rhythm. “Many times I would spend a night camping with my laptop,” Abrahams says, “gathering ideas from the surrounding reflections of the light and sound off the rocks and sea.” The result is Abrahams’ first full-length as Bodycode, The Conservation of Electric Charge, a whirlwind of percussive, multi-layered techno released on Spectral Sound in 2006. Critics were impressed (Resident Advisor called it “a work of depth and integrity,” and URB applauded his “control and use of layers, deftly shifting layers on top of each other with the speed of tectonic plates”), and dancefloors started filling the world over.
After a three-year absence, Abrahams resurrected his Bodycode moniker with his second Spectral full-length, 2009’s Immune, an intricately textured album of vocal-laced house. “I just felt it a good time for a warm, nurturing aesthetic,” says Abrahams of Bodycode’s shift in tone, “We need that right now.”

On the 6th of February the Phonika collective will see in the new year by showcasing some of the most exciting live acts and DJ talent from both home and abroad.
At Warehouse 702, we have the incredible Bodycode headlining the first Phonika of 2010 so be prepared to hear a cutting edge performance from the guy from Spectral Sound. We are also fortunate enough to be showcasing Ragout de Lapin live who will blow your mind with their very own urban take on techno.
Next to our live acts we will open up your senses to some of Tokyo`s hottest DJ`s on the circuit having Bein`s mainstay DJ Inose supported by Kazma and Yasuo as part of their Y2k outfit. They will be supported by residents Groove Patrol, Alex Einz, Yuki Tsukinaga and vocalist Jason Young.

After 7 year’s activity as bassist in Tokyo,
bassist “you” start his carrier as “VJ you”.
so he play VJ just same as musician.
He commands many MIDI Instuments for LIVE VJ play.
yes, his VJ is not only show images.
He is a Live player of visuals.
VJ you think himself as VJ nomad.
when he go to many places as Livetour,travel,he always get any feeling and take videos.
Almost all footages are created in his travel.
Then,he continue traveling and VJ.
these days, VJyou started "phoenix" series .he is trying to visualize the aura,emotion,and winds .we can't look those things ,but we can feel them.
so, his VJ help music to become a lifelong memories.

COTTONは、エリカ ドルン(www.erica-dorn.com)とマレック オコン(www.marekokon.com)の二人組。東京の音楽レーベルに勤務中に知り合った二人だが、一日12時間にもわたる勤務をこなしながら、二人のビジュアルにおける実験的な試みに対するあくなき情熱と、大都会のエネルギッシュなグラブカルチャーに対する愛着とを組み合わせるために...COTTONは、エリカ ドルン(www.erica-dorn.com)とマレック オコン(www.marekokon.com)の二人組。東京の音楽レーベルに勤務中に知り合った二人だが、一日12時間にもわたる勤務をこなしながら、二人のビジュアルにおける実験的な試みに対するあくなき情熱と、大都会のエネルギッシュなグラブカルチャーに対する愛着とを組み合わせるためにVJをスタートした。仕事としてのデザインワークにとどまらず、二人の活動範囲はイラストレーション、モーショングラフィック、写真などにも広がっている。現在は東京とロンドンを往復。

Having met while working for a Tokyo-based music label, and undeterred by their typical 12-hour workdays, they began VJing in order to unite their love for the city's vibrant club culture with their obsessive interests in visual experimentation. Their personal work extends beyond their professional design practice into areas such as illustration, motion graphics and photography. They currently divide their time between Tokyo and London.

With their created new beat and melody, even the known tracks colored into herba world. No one knows what is going to happen, the LIVE SET surely worth seeing. As working in deep sound range party [bein] as resident and organizer, they keep goings on and on their movements all around Tokyo with their lovely deep sounds.
