Following on from the success of our debut with Berghain's legendary Ben Klock, our second installment of Mariana Limited welcomes techno stalwart KIRK DEGIORGIO. Prolific producer, world class DJ & owner of the renowned A.R.T. (Applied Rhythmic Technology) record label we wait with bated breath for his performance in July. Also flying in from the UK will be DAVE TWOMEY aka TR NCH who assures us of his good health this time round, currently enjoying the buzz of the inclusion of his debut collaboration 'Barreleye' on Time To Express digital long-player ''Return To Center'', OUT NOW. Supporting cast includes Labyrinth DJ's So & more TBC. Visuals will be provided by the ever mind-blowing RealRockDesign.

To start Kirk was the absolute guru of rare groove, house and techno. He was the one who sourced the great tracks for DJs when the whole scene was no more than a blip on the radar. Kirk travelled from Britain to become one of the first explorers into the deepest, darkest jungles of Detroit record shops. Within a heartbeat he elevated as a producer of excellence with his famed ART label releasing the likes of The Black Dog, Aphex Twin, even Carl Craig who remixed his classic Nairobi track. Kirk himself has released on such legendary labels as New Religion, Rush Hour, Planet E, R&S and Mo Wax & he was a fundamental influence in bringing wider attention to a core of UK artists working in a Detroit-originator inspired vein. Detroit paid back the favour last year inviting him to their Movement 2010 festival.
His versatility is a much lauded, swinging through the genres with ease and Kirk pioneered much of today's DJ technology; being a digital DJ before anyone else has made Kirk an ambassador of the form. he was the first professional DJ to use Ableton Live for his DJ sets. He revels in the new and is critically acknowledged for his past triumphs. His is a style of highly customised and advanced performances, dropping him into the very centre of acclaim, such as for his new Machine event project with Ben Sims or his recent collaboration with Ian O'Brien on A.R.T. After a few years cutting his teeth in the student club scene in 2002 he won Muzik magazine's monthly mixing competition Bedroom Bedlam & with new confidence to change direction he moved Japan-wards. During his 8 year stay he held various residencies or his own parties at Yellow, Air, Womb, Colors Studio & Warehouse702 injecting a dose of the underground into the Tokyo scene; he managed Number 11 'Best DJ' for Loud magazine in 2004 & was resident for Global Underground in Tokyo amongst others. His 20's based in Tokyo also saw early tours to South America, Europe, South East Asia & more ...
A keen & prolific event organiser as well as DJ his events have been he says a challenging labour of love over the years and his current focus MARIANA - deep, trippy & liquid techno events inspired by the Mariana Trench & its fearsome creatures - has been picking up momentum in a scene saturated by minimal and tech house. Early Tokyo events saw his MYM stable booking the likes of Falko Brocksieper, Oliver Hacke, Andrea Ferlin, Mark Henning, Reynold & Jeff Milligan, plus more recently for MARIANA / MARIANA DUB SESSIONS / MARIANA LIMITED the likes of Ben Klock, Kirk Degiorgio, Peter Van Hoesen, Kassem Mosse, Mike Parker, Delta Funktionen & MLZ among others.
Running since its Samurai.FM' launch, Dave's MYM RADIO show has featured the likes of Cobblestone Jazz, Peter Van Hoesen, DJ Nobu, Alex Smoke, Ryan Elliott, Dartrixx (aka Fumiya Tanaka & Radiq) & many many more over the years though currently on sabbatical. The MARIANA DUB SESSIONS podcast continues to spread its tentacles, originally started as an outlet for mixes of a deeper vein as well as Mariana residents and guest DJ sets (http://marianadubsessions.podomatic.com).
Dave is currently living in the UK and focusing on Tr nch production & podcasts. Dave's debut 12-inch under that alias is a collaboration with Okinawan IORI on Peter Van Hoesen's TIME TO EXPRESS. Pushing and pulling the dubby, 4am, bass-heavy, spacey, trippy warehouse-beginnings and influence of Berlin, Detroit & the UK, the Tr nch Mariana Dub Sessions DJ sets explore techno since its inception - pulsating, throbbing soundscapes also that mirror the darkness & mystery of the the deepest place on earth, the Mariana trench in the Pacific Ocean. it is a deep, ephemeral, liquid session of techno drawing on a deep love of electronic music, vinyl & a 12 year DJ career which has seen him pass through Russia, Bulgaria, Argentina, China, Chile, Germany, Paraguay, Brasil & more.
The Tr nch DJ set represents the sound of MARIANA, a currently Japan-based deep techno event project. Past guests include the likes of Ben Klock, Peter Van Hoesen, Mike Parker, Cio D'Or, Delta Funktionen & Pendle Coven and the MARIANA DUB SESSION PODCAST, lauded by the likes of MLZ & Van Hoesen.
