For three days from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026, "NU Festival" — a urban festival co-hosted by JR East — will make its inaugural appearance at "TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY" and "Takanawa Gateway Station" in Tokyo, one of Japan's largest neighborhoods continuously creating new culture.
The entire district, which JR East describes as "an experimental ground for enriched living 100 years from now," will be enveloped in music and art for this special three-day event.The timetable and additional programs for "NU Festival" have now been announced.Visitors will explore the various cutting-edge spots of "TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY," experience avant-garde music and art at the multi-purpose cultural complex "MoN Takanawa: The Museum of Narratives", and move to DJ music in the station concourse and forecourt plaza. Built on the concept of Next × New × Unity, the entire city will be transformed into an experiential space of music and art.
Long-Awaited Japan Debuts to World Premieres — "NU Live": Cutting-Edge Music You Can Only Experience Here
"NU Live", featuring international festival "Sónar" (Barcelona) as a collaborator, will take place in the "LINKPILLAR Hall" at TAKANAWA GATEWAY Convention Center. It brings together pioneers of electronic music, key figures of the contemporary scene, and a new generation redefining youth culture.Grandbrothers — making their long-awaited Japan debut — incorporate custom-built mechanisms into the piano to produce sounds impossible with fingers alone.
Suzanne Ciani (living legend of the synthesizer world) and UK electronic music maverick Actress collaborate for the first time. Their acclaimed 4-channel audio work, which generated excitement at Barcelona's "Sónar" and London's "Barbican Centre," finally makes its Tokyo debut.
Ambient pioneer William Basinski presents a world-premiere performance using the grand piano "Shigeru Kawai SK-5".
The enigmatic yet globally acclaimed Two Shell comes to Japan, showcasing their revolutionary sound that defines contemporary UK club culture.

Other performers include Japan's leading media artist Daito Manabe (真鍋大度) and hip-hop legend DJ KRUSH, among others. A high-quality sound system, state-of-the-art lighting, and an innovative center-stage design will transport audiences into an unprecedented experience.
Additional programs include "dublab.jp presents OTOJU SESSIONS" — where attendees lie down and immerse themselves in sound in a premium surround-sound environment — and "Sound Bath", a healing experience surrendering the entire body to sonic vibrations. The participation of hidden gem bar "Akai Heya (赤い部屋)" from Minami-Aoyama has also been confirmed, creating a special space where music and people connect gently over natural wine.
"NU Station" — Enjoy DJ Sets in the Station Space, Overlooking Passing Trains
At the "Takanawa Gateway Station South Gate 3F Terrace", "NU Station" will be held in collaboration with J-WAVE (81.3FM). J-WAVE music programs will curate DJ performances over three days, each from their own perspective.Performers include DJ EMMA, KO KIMURA, Kotsu & Nari (CYK), Ryogo, FULLHOUSE (SAMO / TAKENOKO), SAKURA, and other top Japanese DJs. The everyday space of a train station transforms into a place overflowing with music.
"NU Park" — The Station Forecourt Becomes a Dance Floor
At "Gateway Park" in front of Takanawa Gateway Station, "NU Park" will be held as a special edition of "TAKANAWA GATEWAY SPECIAL LIVE." Performers include SHINICHI OSAWA, RHYME, Shingo Nakamura, and SATOSHI OTSUKI, alongside a cutting-edge mobile stage equipped with a 7-screen LED vision and sound system, plus rotating food trucks each day. The station forecourt will transform into a festival venue where music, food, and people gather.
Guests who spend ¥10,000 or more (tax included) at any shop within "TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY" (including "NEWoMan TAKANAWA") on the day of the event will receive priority access to the "NU Park" premium area (front row of the mobile stage).

"NU Connect" — Enjoy the City in a Sauna or Sky Garden
"NU Connect", the program linking the city and the festival, features a collaboration with "Takanawa SAUNAS" and "LUFTBAUM 28F Midori no Niwa (翠の庭)" at "NEWoMan TAKANAWA."At Takanawa SAUNAS — an urban retreat facility with diverse sauna rooms and nap spaces — a collaboration event featuring Chee Shimizu and Kaoru Inoue will take place on Saturday, June 27, from 20:00 to 02:00. Guests can move between the festival and the sauna, unwinding while immersed in music.

Special Listening Session with Electronic Music Pioneer Suzanne Ciani
As an after-event for "NU Festival," a special listening session will be held in collaboration with hi-res music streaming service "Qobuz", coinciding with Suzanne Ciani's Japan visit. Her latest album, co-produced with the Metropole Orkest, will be experienced in quadraphonic sound via Qobuz streaming — a one-night-only event.

Pre-Party at Shibuya "WOMB"
A collaboration between new party "MISSING HALF" at Shibuya's WOMB (on Friday, June 26) and "NU Festival" has been confirmed. On the festival's opening night, Nico Etorena arrives from Spain. Domestically, a special B2B between KABUTO and SATOSHI OTSUKI will take place, while 鏡民 (Kagami Tami) and Toner perform a "NU Festival" takeover on the 1F floor. The festival's energy flows directly into Shibuya's night.
