Don Diablo will come to EDC Japan this year!
He told us about his new album "Future" in this
interview.  This interview is pretty long, then I tell this in 2 article. This article is the second one.

First article is here!!

WHO HAVE YOU WORKED WITH
On my future album I have worked with some incredible vocalists, so I feel really blessed!
I think they are all kind of unique in their own way and they represent the future to me. Because I feel like they have all bright futures ahead and these are voices that will get heard in many, many more years ahead. I’m talking about voices like James Newman, Nina Nesbitt, Betty Who, the guys from A R I Z O N A, Bully Songs, Paije, Miles Graham and of course Calum Scott. All of these are incredible vocal talents and yeah, I’m really, really humbled to have them on this album.

WHAT TO EXPECT
I think fans expect to hear the typical Don Diablo sound, but you know in a new way so to speak. I think these are more song-driven records that have a start and a finish. And that has lyrical content that actually means more than ever I guess and also, I think despite it being kind of eclectic all of these songs have my autographs on it as a musician and producer. They all click together, they all have futuristic harmonies, a lot of my piano sounds. It’s sort of united in diversity and I hope people are going to enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it for them.

TOUR
I’m definitely going to be touring with this album, my tour kicks off in the USA, where I will be visiting San Diego, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Montreal, Washington and a couple of other cities. Already sold out quite a few of the cities so obviously really proud of that as well. I am brining a lot of frequencies with me to support me as well. For Europe I am going to be doing something completely different, because that tour is going to be called A Better Future tour. For me that is really sort of about giving back, to playing smaller more intimate venues and kind of go back to the beginning of my career where I was able to kind of really interact on a personal level with fans and kind of give them hugs on a personal base. Other than that, I feel like Future stands for so much more than just an album, it’s really about trying to motivate people and kind of change the way they think. And with this tour I kind of wanted to give back as well, meaning that I am not making any money on this tour, the contrary. I’m kind of doing everything for free and donating all of my fees to a great cause, the Cancer Trust, I am an official ambassador for this incredible foundation and obviously based on personal experiences this is something is very important to me. And then on the other hand I do know that there are a lot of people who are struggling financially right now, and they cannot afford a ticket right now. And even though 15 to 20 euros to some of us might not seem like a lot of money, but I get a lot of messages from people that are

struggling to buy a ticket, so I wanted to kind of do something and give back in a way that, if you want to buy a ticket you can buy a ticket for 1 Euro for all my European tour dates and if
you want to spend more that is great, all the money is going to the Cancer Trust and yeah donated as much as you want. But yeah, the basic foundation for this is that everybody has a chance to watch the show and be a part of this, and that is also what Future is about for me.

FAVE
It’s really hard to pick a favourite track on the album. I can tell you which records are probably the most personal records. On three on these records I have provided vocals myself, ‘Reflections’, ‘Satellites’, as well as the closing track of this album ‘Echoes’ which I originally wrote for a science fiction film called Kill Switch, I made a special album version of it. And all these three songs are personal not just lyrically, but I guess looking at the fact that I have put my own voice to it and a record like ‘Satellites’ has been a record that I’ve been working on many years, on and off. It’s a record that I wrote after somebody that was really important in my life passed away, and I had actually lost a few people around that time and I really wanted to express that in a song. And it never really felt like the right moment to put a record that felt that personal. For me ‘Satellite’ is about when you pass away you don’t really go away. You shoot up to the sky and watch over the people that are dear to you, and that really gave me comfort and I never felt like that was something I wanted to share with the rest of the world, but with this album it felt like the right time to do it and to open up a little bit more. It’s obviously frightening it’s also exciting at the same time, you know it’s very personal and these tracks very dear to me on many different levels.

WHATS NEXT
It’s really hard to say what’s coming next, but I can say that this is only the beginning. I’m already working on a lot of new music, I’m actually really excited about what’s coming next on that level. So, I’m expanding my clothing line, the record label, and yeah more touring. I’m working on a really extensive tour for 2018 where I will be taking things to the next level on the production side I would say. Really kind of bringing the whole Future world to life and hopefully I can tell you guys more about that soon. Other than that, I think I might have to sleep for a week after finishing this album, because it has definitely been a labour of love, but also so much time, love and dedication went into this album and I am incredibly excited for people to hear it.

SUM UP
How to sum up Future in one sentence? I would say it is a sonic journey with futuristic elements that sends out a motivational message that the future is bright and that the best things are yet to come.
