Sean Mallion aka Heuristics took some of his earliest musical experiences more than a decade ago from the cavernous booming warehouse parties of Jungle and breakbeat in Toronto. The multicultural, melting pot of the city infused a deep respect for sound system culture and global sounds in the youngster. Getting a pair of technics while studying in Victoria, BC solidified his love for electronic music and set him down the path of a listener, digger, and vinyl head.
In 2010 Sean relocated to South Korea, where he connected with the "LET" crew headed by Jung "J-path" Park. The crew was a collective of graphic artists, DJs, producers, and MCs with the common goal of pushing forward drum & bass and breakbeat culture on the Korean peninsula. It was at this time Sean cut his teeth as both a DJ and producer, from regular appearances on the Seoul club circuit to a 3 month production course with J-path himself. The fast paced, futuristic vibe of Seoul along with the rich nightlife culture left a lasting impression on the young music head.
2013 saw Sean relocating back to Canada, this time to Vancouver, BC. Along with longtime music friend Liam "Propolis" Brownrigg the two founded the ADSR collective, a loosely formed group of global artists passionate about their craft. Entering its fourth year, ADSR now encompasses a blog, record label, and events.
In early 2018 Sean made the move to the Japanese metropolis of Tokyo. Bringing with him a decade of interdisciplinary electronic music experience, from DJ and producer to event organizer and label manager, Sean is looking at 2018 as a year of new connections and opportunities. Whether curating custom musical experiences for unique spaces or releasing underground artists on his ADSR Collective imprint, rest assured Heuristics will continue his left leaning creative approach to music, art and culture.
