From the day he was born, Joshua Walter’s life has revolved around music. He grew up surrounded by his parents’ record collection and discovered that spinning records was a true form of art. At the beginning of the millennium Joshua decided to devote his life to his passion and taught himself how to spin, mix, and edit records. Joshua took the Dutch club scene by storm the minute he decided to kick it up a notch.
Diversity is the one word that describes Joshua Walter best. His sense of eclecticism and ability to keep the party vibe going strong have given him an extremely wide range of possibilities. This is demonstrated by his residencies at high-end clubs like Jimmy Woo and Escape in Amsterdam. You can also check out this stylish Dutchman at Club Shoko in Barcelona every month. In addition, Joshua has spun in New York (Standard Hotel), Turkey, Belgium, Germany and at several festivals, including Mysteryland and Valtifest, among others.
Although Joshua fully enjoys standing in the spotlight during his shows, he also invests a great deal of time and energy backstage creating his own concepts. Not only has he set up the funky nightlife network “Fewkidsontheblock”, he also working in close collaboration with the up-and-coming party collective The Eclectic Eleven. Together with these multi-talented youngsters he is planning to take over the world, one party at a time. With Engineerz of Soul, Joshua has done numerous productions for the likes of Radio 538, Radio Veronica and the MTV Mash Up CD. Joshua has a weekly radio show “Off The Record” where Joshua lets listeners get a taste of his favorite new hits and all-time classics.
After all these performances, collaborations and creating his own shows, last year revealed itself as the perfect moment for this young DJ to determine his own path musically. This resulted in an EP: Project Nocturnal Animals. Project Nocturnal Animals includes various unique collaborations. Dutch female DJ WannabeAStar contributed as a vocalist on the first single ‘Nocturnal Animals’ and New York singer Scott Harris did vocals for the second single ‘Let It Go’. Mixing and mastering were handled by Werner Pensaert (Hooverphonics, U2), Grammy winner Brad Blackwood (Maroon5, Pink) and Tom Coyne (Adele, Beyonce).
Project Nocturnal Animals was recorded in the Dutch Red Bull Studios and will be the very first commercial dance record to be released from the studios. The sound of this mini-album will be a daring mix between pop & dance with an indie sound. Joshua Walter was able to finance the whole production and promotion through crowdfunding.
His debut EP “Project Nocturnal Animals” will be released in June 2013.
