...is a track that first came to life during a moment when I was feeling low - a feeling that echoes how now, with everything happening in Gaza and here in the city I call home, Los Angeles.
I wrote this song in July 2005—almost 20 years ago now. I had just bought a Moog Voyager, I stumbled upon a preset named “The Light.” The Rhodes part followed almost immediately.
The demo captured something fragile, and I did everything I could to preserve that feeling in the final version. The song found its way out into the world—it was featured in Scandal (shoutout to #Olitz), and I’ve seen people post videos playing the Rhodes line.
It means more than I can say that this song has traveled beyond the four walls of my tiny bedroom studio at 847½ 27th St. in San Diego. I’m grateful it continues to connect—especially now.
