Florian Picasso made his debut performance in Japan at V2 Tokyo for the official countdown party to Ultra Korea 2016!
The busy man who has been hopping around the globe from Manchester's Don't Let Daddy Know to Japan and back to Europe was very generous enough to share some of his time for an exclusive interview with iFLYER.

Check out his interesting relationship with Japan and musical infuences.

First of all, we are so honored to have you in Japan! Before your show at V2 Tokyo you were at Manchester for Don’t Let Daddy Know! How was that?

Manchester was great, it was my first show out there and I enjoyed it pretty much.

After Don’t Let Daddy Know was a club event in Tokyo, how was it at V2 Tokyo for the first time ever?

It was so good, small but intense the energy was amazing I didn’t expect that at all.

You’ve had experience living in Japan. Does Japan hold a special place in your heart?

Japan was a big part of my childhood growing up by reading a lot of manga and watching anime (non genesis evangelion, card captor sakura, saint-seya, one piece, naruto, akira and a lot more)

What was special about your Japanese fans? Any special episodes you can share with us?

So welcoming!! Yuki and two of his girlfriends were supporting me from the crowd and then we met, they were such nice people they invited me for some late ramen after the show I loved it.

Now going back to your roots, how did you get into DJing?

At first I just wanted to be the cool guy in middle school then it really got me.

How was it like to open for Swedish House Mafia back in Cannes? Was it a career defining moment?

It was really bad because I did it thanks to a hook up who would during my set ask me how much would my friend spend on a table, I was stressed and did a lot of mixing mistakes, so never ever get booked by a club that doesn’t care about your music !

How did it feel to be featured on Protocol presents Miami 2016 and how did you get in touch with Protocol Recordings in the first place?

It was a great opportunity. It all started with ‘Origami’ now protocol and my team are very close we have a lot in the pipeline together.

We absolutely love your track ‘Origami’. How did that all fold out and why name it ‘Origami’?

I was trying a lot of melodies but it was boring to me so I decided to spice it up adding a lot of details and effects. Origami because the process of the track the way it’s built was like an origami.

You have mentioned in previous interviews that hip-hop has had a big influence on you. In what way and which artists in specific have influenced you?

I love Justin Bieber ahah :)

Do you think there is a connection between the hip-hop scene and the dance scene?

Indirectly yes, because we are all here to pass on a message a feeling trough music, but in terms of sound we came to a time where both can match together perfectly, and this is new.

How has being a part of the Picasso family influenced your lifestyle in terms of your music?

It made me want to create as much as possible, not everything will be good but I’m in that type of process, constant creativity.

Has Picasso’s artwork influenced your single art covers etc?

It had influenced my logo, especially cubism, the way of taking something complex and breaking it down to it’s simplest form.

You’ve done collaborations such as ‘Beat Bomb’ and even played at Amnesia Ibiza through meeting Steve Aoki. How did you get in touch with him and how has it been working with an artist who has had great impact on you and shares similar experiences of living different cultures?

It was a good experience, we met at a festival I shoot him some demos, and we started talking he came over in cannes and messed around with some ideas and here we are.

You mentioned you have your first album coming up and we can’t wait! Exciting news you can share with us? Artwork? Collabs? Title tracks?

It will actually be an ep more like songs rather than what I do now but with the Picasso touch of course.

Which music festival would you like to play at the most and why?

Festival gotta play’em aaaaallllll (Pokemon)

What’s the most memorable club you’ve played at so far?

I loved Amnesia in France !

What are the perks of tour life? Any exciting travelling experiences you can share with us?

Meeting people and getting into their culture and tradition.

What can we expect from Florian Picasso in 2016?

Good music and good shows :) :) :)

As said, he's already got new music coming out from good old Protocol Recordings on May 13th! Watch out for 'Final Call' which had great response from the Japanese crowd at V2 too.
