The Genevan Heathen aka Stephan Armleder is a multifaceted artists constantly chasing the comfort of being a 12 years old kid playing in his room by himself, safe and sound in his imaginary world. His influences lay strongly in pop culture from the 80s and 90s and rely on an encyclopedic knowledge of hip hop, American cinema, and skateboarding from said period.
His work as a vocalist includes releases on Soul Clap Records ("Love My Life") and his own imprint with no name ("Charlie Sheen EP", a picture disc in the shape of Charlie Sheen's face), a long collection of mixtapes (the cult series "Notgoinganywhere", the annual Xmas mixtapes with DJ Raze, movie themed mixes like "The Music of John Hughes" and "Win in the Movie", and the critically-acclaimed "Sex Rap" cassette among many others), hosting the legendary "Pour Les Filles" mixtape series by French rapper Cuizinier (of TTC), and hundreds of collaborations of all genres (Gonzales, The Egyptian Lover, Teki Latex, Spank Rock, Para One, XXXChange, Mental Groove, Tacteel, Butter Bullets, Chris Devlin, 33Hz, Orgasmic and the list goes on). More recently The Heathen has started a comedic podcast (The Genevan Heathen Podcast) which presents a general view of the imaginary world he has created throughout the last 10 years.
Stephan Armleder is also the co-founder and main curator of Villa Magica Records, a label created with world renowned artists Sylvie Fleury and John Armleder (The Heathen's dad). Villa Magica is responsible for releases by Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle), Christian Marclay, Stephan Eicher, TTC, Tacteel and Gerwald Rockenschaub.
