In the mid-2000’s, Darkstar, which consists of Aiden Whalley and James Young, started their career by blending together electronic music that was born in the UK underground scene, such as early grime and dubstep. They performed at the now legendary club event, “FWD”, and released a 12” Single, “Aidy’s Girl Is A Computer” on Kode 9’s Hyperdub label, which made them famous. Their futuristic yet avant-pop sound became an anomaly in the post-dubstep scene, and gathered attention. After vocalist James Buttery joined the two, Darkstar released their debut album, “North”. This album was critically acclaimed by many magazines inside and outside the UK, ranking in several 2010 top 10 charts. They are now praised as the first band to be born from the present UK underground electronic scene. Their first release after transferring to Warp Records, “News From Nowhere” will be released on January 23th, 2013. Chosen as producer is Richard Formby, who has worked with the likes of Sonic Boom, Hood, Wild Beasts, and Egyptian Hip Hop.
