DJ SARASA a.k.a. Silverboombox is an internationally acclaimed DJ, Producer & Performer of Bass music group XXX$$$, Founder of Mynority Classics (street wear/accessories brand), an influential blogger for Wax Poetics Japan, and a Japanese Representative for the Universal Zulu Nation.
DJ SARASA has released Hip Hop LINE stamps which placed 1st in the LINE chart and release of a total of 16 compilations and mixes. Internationally, DJ SARASA has performed with government involved cross-cultural events with Germany, India and Canada.
She continues touring around Japan, the US, Canada, Australia, Dubai, China, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Germany, India and many more. She has played a wide range of events such as festivals like Burning Man, Sonar, and Fashion Night Out by Vogue. On other days, she would DJ for Rap battles or bboy battles. Whether it be an audience over 5,000 people at Chingay Parade (Singapore’s largest street fair), or at a fancy and low-key venue such as Blue Note New York, where she recently performed at the Hurricane Sandy relief show in 2012, her ability to cater to her surroundings at anytime has made DJ SARASA one of Japan's most popular international DJs.
DJ SARASA’s latest project XXX$$$, an international Tokyo-based Bass music duo consists of Japan-born, NYC-raised DJ SARASA and Ukraine-born, UK-raised XLII. Together, they have made successful releases such as the official remix of I AM LEGION’s (Noisia + Foreign Beggars) lead single “Make Those Move.” As live performers XXX$$$ creates their own brand of bass-heavy dance music combining their own predilections for turntables and digital controllers with XLII behind the pads while SARASA cuts up a storm. Using turntables, laptops and N.I Maschine controllers, XXX$$$ create music that is thick and layered, pulling from their respective experiences and backgrounds to create a high energy mix of dance floor friendly hip hop beats and bass, electronic dance music and a little je ne sais quoi born of this unique fusion: energetic like Tokyo, colourful and exotic like India, heavy like London while also dirty and danceable like Baltimore.
DJ SARASA was also featured in the music video for Ghostface Killah’s “Rise of the Ghostface Killah” and Talib Kweli’s “Turnt Up”. She was the official DJ for Illa J (younger brother of the late J Dilla) in 2010 from his "Tribute to J Dilla" show in Japan. Furthermore, she has collaborated with Brownman, the trumpet player who replaced Donald Byrd in “Guru’s Jazzmatazz”, and was the DJ counterpart for his new project “DJ + HORN” that he created with DJ Cutler (DJ for Jeru the Damaja). DJ Premier also participated in this project prior to DJ SARASA. She also made possible the Japan tour of El Da Sensei (The Artifacts) X DJ SARASA in 2013, doing 8 Shows in 15 days.
DJ SARASA not only she hosts events such as Grandmaster Flash’s Japan show in 2012, but is also the top choice for promoters to book as an opening act for overseas artists that tour Japan. She has performed alongside Questlove, DJ Premier, Talib Kweli, Pete Rock, The Roots, Mayer Hawthorne, Dam-Funk, Peanut Butter Wolf, Dimitri from Paris, TAZ ARNOLD (TI$A), Thundercat, Lapalux, Teebs, TokiMonsta, Group Home, Bow Wow, Large Professor, DJ Krush, C.L.
