Ever had hard disk failure?  Well, when you're a dj and you rely on your macbook to make things happen, it has nightmarish consequences.  I learnt the hard way, rocking up to a gig to find that my computer, whilst on sleep, had decided to pack it in and go on an extended holiday without any recourse to return.  

Advice for mac users:

always back up your files

run disk utilities - verify disk and repair disk often. 

keep at least 10% or 10 gigs free hard disk space on your computer, whichever is bigger

set up a login name specifically for djing where you are not running any additional applications.
