Summer 2013 sees Ben Sims & Kirk Degiorgio’s “new techno” concept clubnight return to London.
Machine is a clubnight championing new & upcoming techno. Founded in 2011 by UK techno heavyweights Ben Sims & Kirk Degiorgio, who as resident DJs personally choose every guest and program the nights. Since it’s inception, with a half-dozen parties in London as well as editions in Barcelona, Madrid, Amsterdam, Dublin and more; Machine has set a precedent for booking only high quality and forward thinking guests - such as Rob Hood, Surgeon, Kevin Saunderson, Rolando, Adam X, Untold, A Made Up Sound, Luke Slater and many more, with the DJs moving away from their comfort zones to follow the Machine guidelines: one-off special DJ sets focussing on material 12-months old or less…
Headlining this summer’s Machine party is the UK Debut of Ben Sims brand new, fully live show. Sims has established himself as one of the country’s most in-demand techno DJs, so it is fitting that the first ever UK performance of his new live show would be at the clubnight he founded and curates – and over Corsica Studio’s notoriously immense Funktion-1 rig.
Spanish techno heavyweight Oscar Mulero makes his first appearance at a Machine night, flying in from Madrid to take to the decks in Elephant & Castle with his trademark dark & modern approach to techno.
Also making his Machine debut is another UK techno stalwart – James Ruskin. Head honcho at the Blueprint label and club nights, one half of O/V/R alongside Regis and with appearances on labels such as Surface, M-Plant, Ostgut Ton and Mote-Evolver – Ruskin is a true techno heavy hitter.
Machine resident and co-founder Kirk Degiorgio completes the immense lineup. With decades of experience in the UK scene, Kirk is commonly acknowledged as the first high-profile DJ to move completely to using Ableton. His label A.R.T. started in the late 80’s saw early releases from the likes of Carl Craig and Aphex Twin – with a constant eye for the future, Degiorgio is the perfect forward-thinking DJ to represent new techno.
With Machine holding it down with new techno in the main room, Room 2 of Corsica Studios takes things back with retrospective clubnight I Love Acid taking hold of the reigns. Running London parties since 2007, expect an expert blend of classic Acid house, jacking Chicago house and Detroit techno anthems.
Manchester duo Shadow Dancer headline the I Love Acid room. Brothers Al & Paul Farrier debuted in 2006 and have extensive releases on Turbo Records, Boysnoize Records, Bad Life and GND Records, and remixed the likes of Chromeo, Gonzales, Zombie Nation and Damian Lazarus.
Also bringing the 303 action in the I Love Acid room is Breakin’ Records owner and Rephlex star DMX Krew, and bonifide rave legend; Altern 8 / Nexus 21 main man Mark Archer.
I Love Acid resident Placid will also be taking to the platters that matter; Paul Wise - aka Placid - often known as the “DJ’s DJ” being reputably owner of one of the largest and most respectable collections of acid house vinyl in the world.
I Love Acid hosts Posthuman complete the bill, with a DJ set of slow-mo techno & deep acid house, fitting with their recent in-demand vinyl releases on Horn Wax, Body Work, & RSI Records.
