Rational Academy

The Rational Academy are a noise/pop band based in Brisbane, Australia.
The Earliest incarnation of the group anchored their sound in diverse musical worlds of cut-up folk, drone and pop via a quick succession of 7” vinyl EP’s, compilation appearances and collaborations, before releasing their debut album in 2008 to international acclaim.

Produced by Lawrence English, “A Heart Against Your Own” married the Academy’s pop leanings and guitar heavy approach with avante garde and experimental interests.
In 2009 they released their sophomore effort “Swans”, embarked on their first international tour to Japan and were awarded “Best New Music / Experimental” at the QMusic QSong awards where they were also nominated for “Song of the Year”.

They have shared stages with a diverse array of groups including Deerhunter, Deerhoof, Mum, Xiu Xiu, Tujiko Noriko, Tenniscoats, Beach House, The Blow, Scout Nibblet, Dear Nora, Grouper & Spoon. In 2008 they were invited by the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art to perform as part of the “Andy Warhol : Up Late” exhibition program.

They are currently working on a new full length album for release late 2011.

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR is the solo project of Australia-born Brooklyn based artist Eleanor Logan that embodies the modern lifestyle of the art of noise with a love affair for pop. HAPPY NEW YEAR's focus is on making a beautiful assortment of avante singles that are addictive for the every day music obsessive. She delivers listeners her newest recording innovations and creates songs that let humans evoke their shadow selves and expressions of the heart.

In support of her first two 7-inches and collection of music videos, HAPPY NEW YEAR and her ever mutating global ensemble have performed top parties in Brooklyn, Manhattan, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Austin and London. You can soon find HAPPY NEW YEAR in select venues and art spaces in Tokyo, Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney. 2012 will see HAPPY NEW YEAR release her debut full length album on French label SVN SNS and embark on an extensive tours of the USA and Europe.
