Three members of a jazz fraternity at Keio University formed Flat Three in 2003 in Tokyo Japan.
Flat Three won the Sound Producer award at the Sony Walkman Audition2 in 2004 andreleased their first vinyl [Fly Flat Three restructure] (composed by M.O.K.) from flower records in October. Within two months this became the best selling vinyl for new artists.
In September 2005, their original song called [Sky is The Limit] was recorded in a compilation album titled "House Things Vol. 7" (compiled by Eitetsu Takamiya a.k.a Little Big Bee / featuring artist : DJ Spinna, Azymuth, Jazztronik) and became a big hit in the club house scene.
The same song released in the album "Eastronika Episode. 2",which is a joint album by Japanese and Korean artists (featuring artist : Kyoto Jazz Massive, Yukihiro Fukutomi, Little Big Bee, Reggae Disco Rockers, Jazztronik). To have their first original song in an overseas compilation album is a rare feat which has received high acclaim and recognition from various fields.
In September 2007, jazz vocalist Karen Aoki released her 2nd album "Groovin' Jazz Night presents by Karen" and FlatThree produced a song called [Butterfly] and this song was used a ending theme of a music TV program "Groovin' Jazz Nigt" (BS Asahi) In Octorber 2007, their spanish house music, My Passion For Sandra was recorded in a compilation album titled "Un-Released Tracks" The two members, as composers and players, are creating new, sensitive and highly precise sounds by combining the essences of jazz, cross over, house, Latin, R&B, and soul for their huge followers in the club scene.
