Born in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, the petite singer MISIA boasts a five-octave vocal range. Her powerful and soulful voice has made her Japan’s “Queen of Soul.” Her music bears and fulfills the same wish as the original meaning of her name, MISIA -- “To deliver her music to everyone in Asia.” Not only a success in Japan, her work has gained acclaim around the world over the years.
MISIA debuted with the song "つつみ込むように…" in 1998, making a significant impact on Japan’s music industry then. She was thus described as the pioneer of the country’s R&B music. Her debut album “Mother Father Brother Sister” broke the record of the sales of the first album for a new artist in Japan, selling 300 million copies. Since then, the world has heard more of MISIA’s wonderful songs like “Everything” and “逢いたくていま.” MISIA is dubbed the Queen of Ballads. MISIA's fame has gone beyond Asia and her songs have reached the audience all over the world.
It has been 15 years since MISIA’s debut in the music world; her passion for music is growing stronger ever since, presenting her gifted talent on stages worldwide.
In 2004, she became Japan's first female singer who had staged her concerts in the country's top five "Domes."
From 2009 to 2010, she toured around Asia cities including Taiwan, Shanghai, Singapore, Korea and Hong Kong. MISIA's charm attracted 2.5 million audience during her two-year tour. It’s no exaggeration to say that MISIA's impact on Japan’s music industry is phenomenal.
In 2013 and 2014, MISIA toured around Asia destinations like Taiwan and Hong Kong again to celebrate her 15th anniversary in the industry. MISIA has staged a total of 77 amazing concerts in that tour alone, presenting some of the most moving performances so far. Now, MISIA is moving towards her 16th year in the music world and looking forward to embracing another year of musical adventure with her fans.
