イタリアのラリーレヴァンとも評されるバルデリは ARTIST キャリア40年にも及ぶ今年まで来日していなかった最後のビッグネームと言えるだろう。
77'-79'のクローズまでレジデントを勤めたイタリアンディスコの伝説的ベニュー"BAIA DEGLI ANGELI"。
ガラス張りのエレベーター式ブースで上下フロアを往来させ、インドア/アウトドアに2つのプールとそれぞれのフロアを設けた計4フロアからなる、シャンパンの川が流れたというイタロディスコ前夜に存在したディスコでプレイしていたクラッシックスをコンパイル/ミックスした「BAIA DEGLI ANGELI 1977-1978」、その後の BALDELLI のスタイルを決定づけたと言える宇宙船のコックピットの様なブースでお馴染みの伝説のベニュー" COSMIC "でプレイしていたクラッシックスをコンパイル/ミックスしたその名も「 COSMIC THE ORIGINAL 」で COSMIC 再評価が高まり、ここ日本でも数多くのメディアに取り上げられ、FORCE OF NATURE 等のアーティストにも多大な影響を与えた。
独自の視点からありとあらゆるジャンルの音楽をピックアップし、45RPM の曲を 33RPM でプレイしたり(またその反対も)、ディスコやファンクの後にエレクトロニックミュージック、フュージョン、ブラジルなどをプレイし、スティーブライヒのミニマルな楽曲とアフリカのマリンバをミックスしたり、バトゥカーダとクラフトワークをミックスしたり、フェラクティの曲にシンセサイザーで効果音を加えたりと独自のテイストでミックスし、また絶妙なタイミングと各曲のピッチを記憶しているかの如く正確無比なミックススキルで数多くの ARTIST に影響を与え続けて来たまさにオリジネーターである。

Daniele Baldelli, originator of the cosmic style. Called the Italian Larry Levan, he had not until this year visited Japan even once over his 40-year career as an artist--maybe the only big name not to have done so. From '77 to its close in '79, he was a resident at the legendary Italian venue BAIA DEGLI ANGELI. "BAIA DEGLI ANGELI 1977-1978" compiles and remixes classics played at the disco on the nights before Italo-Disco, where the glass elevator booth ran between the four floors with their respective indoor and outdoor pools and a river of champagne flowed; "COSMIC THE ORIGINAL" compiles and remixes classics played from the booth, reminiscent of a spaceship's cockpit, at "COSMIC," where Baldelli's later style can be said to have been defined, and is garnering a positive second look at cosmic. It has been made much of even in the Japanese media, having exerted major influence on artists like FORCE OF NATURE. From a unique perspective, he picked up every possible genre of music for his mixes, playing 45 RPM tracks at 33 RPM (and the reverse); after disco and funk, he played electronic music, fusion, and Brazilian sounds; he mixed Steve Reich's minimal songs with African marimba, batucada with Kraftwerk; he added sound effects from a synthesizer to Fela Kuti's songs. His highly individual taste, impeccable timing, and apparent memorization of the pitches of each song gave him incomparable mixing skill. He is a true originator, whose influence on a multitude of artists continues to this day.
