Boy Nez aka Nezza embarked on his DJ adventure during the early noughties, starting out with a pair of belt drive turntables, a box full of Drum & Bass records and natural ear for great music. However he first began taking DJing and promoting more seriously at university, after turning his campus nightclub (well known for playing the latest pop hits), into something that resembled a warehouse rave in the mid 90s.
After a few years on the underground scene experimenting with different forms of dance music, playing alongside some of the biggest names on the scene, he stumbled across deep house for the first time and has never looked back since. He spent the next few years driving the sound from a minority of fans to the wider masses in clubs and bars around London, which included residencies at the venue formerly know as Cafe Society and regular sets at Bar Evissa.
Slightly disillusioned by the lack of promoters willing to push clubbing to new levels, he took a short hiatus from DJing. However in early 2013 he was introduced to two inspiring party promoters / up and coming DJs (Annabel and Nicola aka the Violent Blondes), who had set up their own exclusive event production brand, Friday Thirteenth Club and were starting to make waves on the London scene as a DJ duo. After a few short meetings it became clear that the girls were on a mission to drive fresh energy into the dance music scene, taking the best of rave culture to broader audiences, which in turn reignited Boy Nez’s passion for DJing.
Boy Nez is back for good playing at some of the coolest parties in East London and at venues in the Midlands. Most recently he has been DJing at fashion events and club nights such as EGO SPILL, the Electronic Sessions and his very own exclusive bedroom rave parties, only attended by those in the know!
