Since Akiram EN started his DJ career in the middle of the 90s, he has become a permanent fixture in the Japanese underground scene. His dance sets range from left-field techno to avant-garde and his deep listening sets are inspired by obscure sounds. Akiram EN’s style conjures a place where listeners can deeply experience and perceive his music. He came into prominence through performing at Japan’s leading festival “rural” and techno parties including “Future Terror” and “MNML SSG”.
His contribution to the underground music scene in Japan is more than just as a DJ. He organizes an infamous weekly deep-listening party “ideala” at Forestlimit (the center of Tokyo’s experimental music scene) as well as being a resident DJ of the party “SCI-FI” at SHeLTeR, a highly regarded audiophile venue in the outskirts of Tokyo. He is a champion of local talent, often inviting DJs and diggers from across Japan to play his parties; yet also has a keen interest in the worldwide scene and himself is often featured together with notable names who come to perform in Japan.
