Nora Brown, a 19-year-old banjo player residing in Brooklyn, is a young talent who performs old-time music with her banjo and voice. Since her childhood, she has studied under masters of traditional music, deepening her interest in the world of old-time music. She conveys the charm of America’s past to her listeners and has garnered support from fans around the world.
Nora, who plays traditional Appalachian music, has learned directly from influential northeastern leaders like the late John Cohen and master musicians such as the late Lee Sexton. She has toured across America and Europe, performing at many renowned festivals including the Newport Folk Festival. Additionally, she has played at official showcases such as NPR's Tiny Desk and AmericanaFest in Nashville. Since 2019, she has released four albums under the Brooklyn-based Jalopy Records label, all of which charted on the Billboard Bluegrass chart in their debut week.
