10月19日、20日と香港で開催予定の最大級の HIP HOP フェスティバル Rolling Loud Hong Kong（ローリング・ラウド・ホンコン）が、セキュリティ上の懸念から開催をキャンセルすると発表された。

コンサート業界向け業界誌 Pollstar（ポルスター）によると下記のようにアナウンスされたようだ。

“After consulting with security experts, it has been determined that it is not possible to organize the upcoming Rolling Loud Hong Kong edition as we had hoped without endangering the safety and well-being of our fans, artists, and staff,” a statement from Rolling Loud reads. “While we regret having to cancel the festival, this is not a decision that has been taken lightly and we look forward to bringing the Rolling Loud festival experience to Hong Kong in the future to celebrate the city’s rich culture and buzzing hip-hop music scene.”

「セキュリティの専門家と相談した結果、私たちのファン、出演するアーティストやスタッフを危険に晒さず Rolling Loud Hong Kong を開催することは不可能であると判断されました。フェスティバルをキャンセルしなければならないことは残念ですが、これは大きな決断で、将来香港の街の豊かな文化と熱いヒップホップシーンを祝うために香港で開催できることを楽しみにしています。」

Rolling Loud Hong Kong には Migos（ミゴス）、Wiz Khalifa（ウィズ・カリファ）、Playboi Carti（プレイボーイ・カルティ）、Ski Mask The Slump God（スキー・マスク・ザ・スランプ・ゴッド）などが出演予定だった。


返金手続きについてもアナウンスされており、全額返金されるようだ。

6月から始まった抗議デモなど政治的状況が混乱しているため、他のコンサートプロモーター、アーティストマネージャーも、需要があるにも関わらず香港でのイベント開催を躊躇ってしまう状況にある現在。音楽シーンの発展のためにも、この混乱が早急に収束してくれることを願うばかりだ。
