"Objekt is a series of white-label vinyl releases designed to make subs rattle and feet wiggle, described by its creator as "a convoluted mess of dubstep, 3-step, garage, techno, bass-core, post minimal wankstep, shithouse, acid wonk, no more, no less".
Eight months and two Objekts in, the list of artists in support (the Hessle Audio crew, Surgeon, Aphex Twin, James Ruskin, Scuba...) has grown to read like a who's who of forward-thinking techno and electronica. Radiohead and SBTRKT were duly remixed, gigs booked in Berghain, Fabric, Tokyo. However, the man behind both records (T.J. Hertz, adopted great-nephew of the car rental mogul and a distant nephew of the man who invented bass frequencies), remains modest about his newfound success, thanks to which he has retired to a farmhouse just outside Berlin, where he lives in solitude and breeds Dobermann Pinschers. "The magazines... they all want my story. DJ Mag offered me a million for a cover feature. But I don't need to be famous. I am happy because at school, the other children made fun of my name. Now I am rich and my dogs run loose on their streets."...
