We re-create the allure of studio Studio 54, the Mecca of the ‘70s disco movement in Tokyo 2009’s most stylish nightclub. Be prepared for some wild outfits and sexy disco house sounds courtesy of DJ Kiri, Jean Nipon and Jay Zimmerman, as well as a special appearance from those ever-so-alluring Ochazuke Girls led by the inimitable Ecco.

Ecco
Party organizer and occasional DJ, Ecco is from DJ unit Ochazuke combined with Ume and Shake. They ate going to rock the floor with some ’80s electro music.

KIRI
Kiri founded the label Revolver in 1998, at the peak of the Ura-Harajuku boom. His official title is director of the brand, but he has links to many industries and is a famous figure on the Tokyo scene.

JEAN NIPON
A mixture of the Paris club scene, Jean Nipon is a fractions, peculiar creature who, under the veil of unassailable coolness, remains and enigma. The story goes something like this: starts out as a drummer in hardcore bands, gets into DJing circa 1997, works as a designer, lives in Japan for a year, designs a Coke bottle, sells records for two years in Paris at Katapult where he meets DJ Wet with whom he starts T.Y.M and Teamtendo, a duo of giant plushies who played 8-bit-grabberelectro on tricked-out Gameboys … After a slew of remixes for top names, Jean in presently is stepping out on his own as a member of the Institubes family, with full privileges. He brings with him a precious knowledge of the obscure and the mainstream, of the rare and the common, and that’s what makes him so differently necessary.

Jay Zimmermann
As Dano’s partner-in-crime at Red Melon, JZ seamlessly weaves rhythmic intricacies of varied (but always funky) musical styles ranging from the deepest of soulful house, through tribal and percussive barnstormers, all the way to the progressive sounds of tech-house and beyond as his diverse personal taste always shines through. Whether rocking a hard-hitting 2-hour peak time set or taking the audience on a slow-burning 5 hour journey, JZ s ability to "play for the crowd" has made him a consistent favourite among Bay Area partygoers. With his residency aboard the famed "Watermelon" boat parties and a non-stop travel schedule that keeps him rockin’ crowds worldwide, JZ is poised to launch an all-out assault on the ears of the global listening public with his unique blend of California-flavored international house music.
