DJ ZIG-NINE
A Nisei born and bred in San Francisco, California,
ZIG-NINE got started as a DJ hosting "THE HIP HOP
UNIVERSE," a weekly radio show at his college FM
station in Los Angeles.
In 1998, he left the comfort of the United States
to live in Kobe, Japan, finding gigs in and around
the greater Kansai area.
In 2002, ZIG-NINE founded "MAS FUEGO," a monthly
drum'n'bass event in Kobe.
In 2005, after much deliberation, he moved to
Nagoya City in search of the next big thing.
Like the mustard and mayo that holds a turkey
club sandwich together, Zig-Nine adds additional
zest and flavor by incorporating bits of hip hop
and breakbeats into his chiefly (but not strictly)
RAGGA / JUMP UP set.
You can catch him in action as a resident DJ for
"W-DOUBLE-," a regularly-held drum'n'bass event in
Nagoya at cafe DOMINA, as well as at bar TRINITY
in Kobe, where he pinch-hit DJ's for "MAS FUEGO."
He can usually be spotted in a club sippin' on
a gin & tonic or a glass of shochu...
