While only in their mid twenties the boys in The Colour Movement have a relationship that has lasted longer than most marriages. Leo and Piers began writing songs together at the age of 13 when they first met at school. A chance encounter led them to realizing they shared a passion for the rock rhythm and blues music of the 60s and 70s, instilled in them at an early age by their fathers. Ali and Dave joined the band during its first year transforming it from a two man acoustic act to a proper four piece rock band.
At the ripe age of 14 the boys, most hailing originally from Cambridge, called the group “Caimbo” in honour of their hometown. Utilizing their remaining years at school to build up a library of original music and a local following, they decided upon leaving college (much to their parents’ chagrin) to start gigging heavily around the UK and at the age of 18 hit the road. In 2008 Caimbo were invited to play Download Festival to a crowd of 80,000 despite having never released a full album.
