Playing to an audience (other than the usual Hip Hop budz) really began with a gig in The Long Ship (Stevenage) in 86/87 being my first break, from there momentum gathered with various local guests spots Splashh @ Tudor Oaks and for legendary Eclipse crew based in Cambridge playing mainly at The Corn Exchange and the odd huge outdoor rave always playing in the erm Balearic or Chill Out Room as it was known back then and various guest spots at so called Balearic doos in and around the Cambridge area.
Clubwise I cut my teeth so to speak alongside one Andrew Weatherall at his seminal Deep House evening BloodSugar where I was resident alongside Alex Knight (Fat Cat Records) for a year a half before it was decided to end the club, on a high. I was also resident for the club night Voyager in London, Islington playing alongside deejays Richie Hawtin, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Joey Beltram, Dave Angel, Colin Dale, Juan Atkins and such like, the high point was playing for the same promoters at Tribal Gathering (Luton Hoo, Beds, UK) and having been on the same bill as Kraftwerk. From there I joined forces with Haywire (the booking agency) and played many a night namely The Rotters Golf Club Parties and The Haywire Sessions at various vice dens across old London town and at uber club Fabric playing alongside Aux88, The Two Lone Swordsmen, Radioactiveman, Adult., Bolz Bolz, Bass Junkie, Richard D. James, Ed DMX, Miss Kittin, Carl Finlow, Rich Sen, Si 'Boozy' Brown aka The Dexorcist, Phil 'Bass Junkie' Klein, Magda, Bandulu and Tokyo Windbag, the list you could say is endless. I have also played in New York City at The Twilo Club alongside Octave One, Dave Angel, Jim Masters, Colin Favor & Brenda Russel and a sprightly Neville Watson of Mighty Atom Records and now one of the UK's finest House music producers.
Since those heady days I' ve played alongside promoters Laser Magentic playing alongside I/f, Serge from Clone Records, Alden Tyrell, Pauli, Overdose, Danny Wang & The Horse Meat Disco crew. I' ve had mixes broadcast on the Cybernetic Broadcasting System and even played live on air whilst on a visit to Den Haag alongside fellow Dream Machinist/Bon vivier Jonny 5 and began a club night called Dream Machine where we booked Intergalactic Gary, Albion, Sean Johnstone of the infamous Hardway Bros, Roberto Auser & Ian Martin. Hell I' ve even played alongside Daniel Baldelli in Amsterdam so it all can' t be that bad. More recently I' ve guested for the good folk at Lowlife playing twice for them at Londons Corsica Studios. Soon Miles Simpson, myself & Joey Apted will be starting a new venture in jolly ole London setting our sites on the age old tradition amongst the more discerning of plying our trade giving folk the best in H O U S E and soulful Detroit and the many influences of Techno.
